New Beginnings in Breathwork

Breathwork, for me, has been like a wakeup call...an alarm clock ringing at high volumes as I wake up the forgotten parts of myself, the unborn parts of myself, and as I wake up the challenges, traumas, and debris that has been stored in the tissues of my body for far too long…some of which has been stored there for many lifetimes. Much like the kundalini snake energy rising towards liberation, I come HOME…to mySELF, feeling grateful for this unwinding…and feeling even more grateful that by the end of this year I will be able to share this work with you.

I find that when explaining breathwork to most individuals, they recall a deep belly breath centered towards relaxing the nervous system, or they remember a pranayama practice they learned in a yoga class. As per usual in most healing modalities, there’s a myriad of approaches for a variety of different outcomes…and there’s no doubt that the breath is such a powerful tool for transformation.

Body-Based Breathwork is a weaving of ancient wisdom and modern science to activate the breath in a conscious and rhythmic way to connect more deeply to the heart in a safe environment. You see, the fascia that is wrapped around the diaphragm also connects to the heart…so when we connect to the breath, we connect to the heart – this is why when we feel sadness, our breathing becomes shallow; when something touches our heart deeply, it takes our breath away. Body-Based Breathwork is intended to bring us into the deep intelligence of our body, where we can safely access stored trauma and the stories we have around those experiences. It is also meant to connect us to the unborn parts of ourselves that are wanting to be revealed. Some explain this work as a way to heal, while others may explain this work as a way to awaken and connect to Divine knowing. The point is that through this altered state of consciousness, you are divinely guided by your breath and body to enter a realm of understanding. This is not a state of relaxation, but a state of activation!

So here I am, currently in a 9-month deep dive of this work and will be bringing it to your community by December of this year. Entering the classroom on my first in-person training, I was greeted with a quote written on the whiteboard, “Our basic work is to become full human beings, and to inspire full human beingness in other people who feel starved about their lives.” – Chogyan Trungpe.

All I can say is, “Yes! SO MUCH YES!”

…and there is SO MUCH MORE to unfold…so stay posted!
